City Council Accomplishments during Tim's Term

  • Strong Advocate and Supporter of the City’s Revitalization Efforts for Neighborhoods and Retail Areas

  • Maintained the same low Municipal Tax Rate during my entire term on Council, Never Voting to increase the Tax Rate

  • Started and Completed Fire Station No. 3 (on-time and under budget), which was paid for with no debt and has reduced fire and ambulance response times throughout the city, which will result in saved lives and property

  • Overhaul of Code Enforcement Department, which has had a tremendous impact on neighborhood appearances

  • Maintained a Balanced City Budget during entire Council term

  • 10% Increase in Sales Tax Revenue from fiscal year 2006 to fiscal year 2007, 3,076 New Jobs created in Farmers Branch in 2007 (most since 1996), 48 Farmers Branch businesses expanded their facilities in 2007 (most since 2000)

  • Increased the number of members on City Boards to allow for more participation in the community by residents wanting to get involved

  • Created a new City Park, Liberty Plaza, which will serve as the gateway to Farmers Branch - upon completion, Liberty Plaza  will draw people into the city to shop and eat at our retail businesses in the DART Station Area, resulting in more sales tax revenue for our city

  • Began Design of a new state-of-the art Animal Shelter - completion expected late 2008

  • Brought in headquarters of the Dallas Texans Soccer Club, one of the premier club soccer organizations in the nation, resulting in increased room nights for our hotels, generating additional tax revenue at no cost to our residents

  • Passed laws and created initiatives to address the problem of illegal immigration in our community

  • Began Construction on a new City Rose Garden, with funding from a grant through Texas A&M, which will enhance our city’s appearance and increase sales tax revenue – completion expected Spring 2008

  • Approved construction of new townhomes near Midway and Alpha, approved demolition of office buildings between Josey and Webb Chapel on the LBJ service road to allow for new retail in its place, and approved new mixed-use developments in the LBJ/Luna and Midway/Alpha areas

  • Chose a Developer to Partner with the City in the development of our DART Station Area, creating a new downtown for Farmers Branch, which will feature restaurants, shopping, offices and living space

  • New Construction Projects during my time on the Council include:

    Recently Completed

  • Fire Station No. 3 and Bob Phelps Fire Administration Building
  • The Broadstone at Galleria (mixed use development with upscale apartments and retail near Tollway and McEwen)
  • The Portofino (upscale apartments in Mercer Crossing)
  • Laguna Vista (upscale apartments and retail in Mercer Crossing)

    Under Construction

  • A New City Rose Garden (Valley View and Dennis)
  • Cambridge Crossing, a 184-Townhome Project near Midway and Alpha
  • A Mixed-Use Development of Upscale Apartments and Retail at Midway and Alpha
  • Numerous new homes in Branch Crossing (Tom Field and Valley View) and The Courtyards (Marsh and Valley View)

    Planning Stage

  • Mercer Crossing – this will be one of the premier retail/residential/office parks in the Metroplex, similar to Legacy Town Center and Southlake Town Center, located on the west side of Farmers Branch in and around Luna and LBJ.  Mercer Crossing will feature a 30+ acre lake with lighted display fountains similar to the Fountains at Bellagio in Las Vegas, which will cost over $8 million (no cost to the City).  This will be the most significant development in our City's history.  Plans were just announced for The Shops at Mercer Crossing, a mixture of retail, residential living and office space, with Mediterranean-style architecture. This development will be spread over 300 acres and will include lakeside dining options, green spaces, plazas and walking trails.
  • A new, state-of-the-art Animal Shelter next to the Justice Center
  • An Addison Circle-type Mixed-Use Development at what is now known as The Centre, near Midway and Alpha
  • The demolition of Brookhaven Business Park between Josey and Webb Chapel on the LBJ service road, resulting in a new retail shopping area, which may include a Super Target, Kohl’s or other large anchor store, as well as quality restaurants
