    THANK YOU FARMERS BRANCH!!!

    May 11th, 2008

What an honor it is to be your next Mayor.  We won with a positive, optimistic campaign and the support was incredible.  Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make this happen.  It was a team effort all the way.  Your support was humbling, inspiring and will never be forgotten.

Farmers Branch is a great place to live, and we are going to make it even better.  I look forward to serving our town over the next three years and will work hard to bring about positive changes for our community.

I have met people all over the city, have formed new friendships that will last forever and have developed an even stronger love for Farmers Branch.

Thank you for the confidence you have placed in me.  The future of Farmers Branch is bright, and our best days are still to come.  May God bless each and every one of you.  Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers out there.

    TODAY IS ELECTION DAY!!!

    May 10th, 2008

Please go vote today!  Every vote counts.  Bring your family, friends and neighbors to the polls.  Thanks to everyone for your support.  On to Victory!

VOTE FOR TIM O’HARE FOR MAYOR TOMORROW!

    May 9th, 2008

Hey everybody.  We have put in a tremendous amount of work over the last few weeks.  I am so grateful to all of the volunteers.  Your support, energy and effort has been nothing short of amazing.  What brings us all together is a desire to take care of this city we all love, to bring about positive changes and to strengthen our community.

Tomorrow, Saturday, May 10th, from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., voters will go to the polls to decide who will be our next Mayor and who will represent us in Place 2 on the City Council.  One side has been positive, upbeat, energetic and excited about things happening in our city and about our future, the other side has been negative, has spread misinformation, half-truths and un-truths, and alieneated members of our city council and city staff.

I ask you to go to the polls tomorrow, bring your spouse, your children, a friend, a neighbor, or all of the above, and reject negative politics and elect me for Mayor and Harold Froehlich for City Council, Place 2.  This vote is cucial, and every vote counts.

To refute all of the misinformation that has been disseminated by my opponent would take an incredible effort.  I want to share with you a few things.  You may have heard my opponent claim we are driving away companies and developers.  Another claim that doesn’t hold up to the facts.  Here are a few of the businesses that support my election:

Ebby Halliday, Real Estate Businesswoman and Philanthropist

Here’s what Ebby had to say:  “Farmers Branch is a great place to do business.  My headquarters are located in Farmers Branch and we have enjoyed the positive, business-friendly environment.  If Farmers Branch continues with its revitalization efforts, our best days are still ahead.”

Dave Morgan, Trinity East Energy, LLC

    Brad Phillips, Liberty Bankers Life

    Dan Robinowitz, Icon Partners

    Kim Wise, Provident Realty

    You get the picture.

We had $99.3 million in construction last year - the most since 2000-01.  Last year, 3,076 new jobs were created - the most since 1996.  48 existing FB businesses expanded last year - the most since 2000.  Sales tax revenue was up 10% from the previous year.  Can he name one company we have driven away?  Of course not.  We also have new projects springing up left and right.  I don’t think the people of Farmers Branch are going to buy this doom and gloom nonsense.

Vote tomorrow for a stronger Farmers Branch!  I ask for your vote and will put my heart and soul into being the best Mayor I can be.

Thanks again for everyone’s support.  It means the world to me.

Friends and neighbors are welcome to attend tomorrow night’s Watch Party at the Holiday Inn Select in Farmers Branch.  It starts at 7:30.  See you there!

Early Voting Ends, Election Day This Saturday!

    May 7th, 2008

Thank you to everyone who came out and voted during early voting.  The excitement expressed about our future by many of you at the polls this week has energized me to work even harder the last few days before the election.  This race is vitally important for our city.  If you didn’t make it out to vote during Early Voting, we need your vote this Saturday, May 10th.  Every vote counts!

I have received numerous letters from people about this election.  It has been great to receive support from long-time elected officials, new families and teens.  I thought I would post this letter from former City Councilwoman Calla Davis:

    Dear Voters of Farmers Branch

I urge you to go VOTE and to VOTE for Tim O’Hare.  He loves Farmers Branch and has only the City’s best interest at heart.   Tim understands how a City Budget works and is working to improve Farmers Branch. He has led a positive campaign. Farmers Branch is on the verge of exploding with redevelopment and we need Tim as our Mayor. My concern with Tim’s opponent is he doesn’t understand how the budget works and is scaring the voters. If the City Manger and Director of the Finance Department can’t help him to understand the City is in great shape, then how can he lead the City?  We need a Mayor who does understand the budget and is promoting the City. We need Tim O’Hare as our Mayor.  I understand the budget and I understand how a City works and I urge all of my supporters and friends to Vote for Tim O’Hare.

    Calla Lea Davis

    Former Council Member Farmers Branch

    1987 to 2003

You may have also read a letter to the editor in the Dallas Morning News from Katie Roberts, Senior Advisory Board Chairwoman, endorsing me for Mayor.  Letters have also been printed from former Councilman Bill Moses, former Councilman Bill Glancy and others. We will have one more meeting for volunteers before Saturday. The meeting will take place tomorrow night, Thursday, May 8, at 5:30 p.m., at campaign headquarters.  When we win this election, it will be our win, not my win.  All of you have been invaluable, amazing and tireless.  The friendships I have made over the last two years have made all of this hard work worthwhile.  I cannot thank all of you enough.

    On to Victory this Saturday!

Last Day of Early Voting: Tuesday, May 6th, 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m., at City Hall

    May 5th, 2008

Hey everyone.  Election Day is almost here and every vote counts!  If you haven’t made it to City Hall for Early Voting, tomorrow is your last chance.  I’d love to see you at the polls tomorrow.  Come by, stop and visit, and cast your vote.  Bring your spouse, a friend, or a neighbor with you.

This race is about a lot of things.  One of them is honesty.  My opponent has spread more false and misleading information about our city’s finances, our council’s integrity and the work of our city staff than anyone has ever seen in this town.  We are about making positive changes, improving our shopping centers and neighborhoods, strengthening our already excellent police and fire departments and following the will of our residents.  He has attempted to scare senior citizens based on false information, mislead people about an alleged budget deficit that has never existed (among many other bits of financial misinformation) and made reckless and unfounded accusations about “secret meetings”.  (Ask yourself:  If “secret meetings” are taking place, how did he find out about them?  When and where did they take place?  If you make outlandish claims like these, shouldn’t you back them up?  Have you heard him give any details about these “secret meetings”?)

I think most people know that my opponent is making a ton of unfounded accusations because he can’t win on his true agenda - making Farmers Branch a Sanctuary City.  So, his advisors tell him to throw out terms like “spending wildly” and “secret meetings.”  I believe the people of Farmers Branch see through these dirty politics and will reject his negativity on May 10th.

This election will set the stage for the future of our city for the next 30 years.  Probably beyond.  Don’t let negative, desperation politics fool you.  He claimed last year that passing Ordinance 2903 would cause your taxes to go up.  They didn’t.  You passed it, and the tax rate stayed the same.  He claimed last year that businesses would run from the city because of our efforts.  They haven’t.  We actually had more jobs created in Farmers Branch last year than at any point in the last decade.  We had the most construction since 2000-01.  We had more existing businesses expand last year than we have had since 2000.  He’s singing the same song he sang last year when he fought against Ordinance 2903.

My opponent has taken money from lawyers whose firm represents people suing our city.  You read that right.  He has actually accepted money from lawyers whose firm has been a part of multiple lawsuits against the City of Farmers Branch. Farmers Branch deserves better.

On Tuesday, May 6th, or Saturday, May 10th, stand up for Farmers Branch and stand up against negative politics and elect me Mayor of this great city.  You will always know where I stand, I will always be honest, and I will work hard for the betterment of this city.

Early Voting Starts Monday, April 28th, at City Hall!

    April 27th, 2008

Hi everyone.  We had two great events this past week.  Our Senior Citizens’ Town Hall forum was well-attended and a great success.  We heard from seniors about their concerns for our city and got to tell them about all the things happening in FB.  We also had a party last night at the campaign headquarters.  We had a great turnout at the party and the kids had a great time in the bounce house.  Some of us adults had a good time in the bounce house, too.

This election is vitally important to the future of our city.  We must decide if we want to move forward or backwards.  I would be honored to serve as your Mayor and will put my heart and soul into working to make our city be the best it can be.  We have so many great things happening here, and many other great things on the verge of happening.  We have shown a lot of progress as a city in the last 2 years, and we need to continue the progress.

Early Voting starts at City Hall tomorrow.  The polls are open from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday, April 28 - Saturday, May 3.  On Sunday, May 4, the polls are open from  1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.  On Monday and Tuesday, May 5 - 6, the polls are open from 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.  Vote early and tell your friends and neighbors to vote early, as well.

A vote for me is a vote for:  1)  Retail and Neighborhood Revitalization, 2)  Strong Support for Our Police and Fire Departments, 3)  No Tax Increases, 4)  a Senior Citizen Property Tax Freeze, 5)  Continued Efforts to Beautify the City and 6)  Continued Efforts to make sure Farmers Branch is not a sanctuary city.

If everyone will vote and call 5 friends and neighbors and ask them to vote, we should prevail.  If anyone has any questions, or knows someone who is undecided and would like for me to call or visit them, call me at 972-484-6980.

Thank you to everyone who has worked hard on this campaign.  Thank you to everyone who has held a Meet the Candidates Party at their home.  Thank you to everyone who has worked at campaign headquarters, knocked on doors, made telephone calls and helped in all of the other ways we have tried to reach people.  The support has been incredible, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

If anyone needs a ride to the polls, call me and we will get you or your neighbor a ride.

I ask for your Vote for Mayor and hope you will support me in my efforts for a better Farmers Branch.

    Your friend,

    Tim O’Hare

Celebrate Farmers Branch Party This Saturday at 6:00 p.m.

    April 22nd, 2008

Hey everyone.  The second Mayoral/Council debate is tomorrow night, April 23rd, at the Manske Library at 7:00 p.m.  I hope you can make it.  Please invite your friends and neighbors so people can make an educated choice for Mayor and Council.

This Saturday, April 26th, at 6:00 p.m., we are having what we are calling a Celebrate Farmers Branch Party.  It will be part party and part Town Hall Meeting.  The event will be at Campaign Headquarters, located at 13545 Webb Chapel Road, next door to Webb Chapel Baptist Church.  Food and Drink is Free!

We will not be soliciting campaign donations.  Come and socialize with friends and neighbors, hear from City Council Candidate Harold Froehlich and myself, and have a good time.

Bring your kids, your lawn chairs and your pets, as well.  Bring a football or frisbee, too.  (Does anyone still throw a frisbee?)  This will be a neighborhood block party that will be a great event for all ages.  We should be getting a bounce house and more activities for the kids.

Hope to see everyone at the Debate tomorrow night and the Party on Saturday!

Only 24 Days Until Election Day/Meeting Tonight!

    April 16th, 2008

Hi everyone.  The last two weeks have been very busy, but very enjoyable.  I’ve met hundreds and hundreds of people that I had never met before.  I love getting out and talking to our residents and hearing where they want our city to go.  Our team is working hard on this election, and I could not be more proud of everyone.  We have run a positive campaign and will continue to do so.  While my opponent resorts to name-calling (”Tiny Tim and the Three Blind Mice”, “The Gang of Four” and “my opponent and his cronies”), we talk about the bright future of Farmers Branch, the redevelopment going on and the development just around the corner, and our efforts to clean up our city.

My opponent continues to call himself the financial conservative.  While on the Branch Revitalization Task Force, my opponent suggested that we raise taxes.  But, don’t take my word for it.  You can get a copy of the minutes of the meetings from City Hall.  It is there in black and white.  While I have been on the Council, we have never raised property taxes and the possibility of reducing taxes in the future is very strong if we continue on the redevelopment course.

Please don’t be fooled by desperation politics.  My opponent wants our city to have an open door to illegal aliens and since that didn’t go over too well last year, he has shifted to a sky is falling financial message.  I don’t think people are going to be fooled.  Last year, sales tax revenue was up by more than 10% from the previous year, 48 existing businesses expanded (the most since 2000), 3,076 new jobs were created in Farmers Branch (the most since 1996), and we had $99.3 million in new construction (the most since 2001.)

Since I took office in 2005, we have reduced the total debt owed by the city (from $32.2 million down to $27.2 million) while many other cities are adding more debt, we have always maintained a balanced budget and we have carried out a plan to make the city debt-free by 2012 when it comes to property-tax supported debt.

We are having a meeting at 7:00 tonight at Campaign Headquarters.  I hope all of you can attend.  The address is 13545 Webb Chapel Road.  We will have something everyone can do to help, both large and small tasks.

I’ve said before that this election is crucial for our long-term success.  I want to help lead our city in the direction I think most people want us to go:  cleaning up our neighborhoods, revitalizing our retail areas, being tough on crime, maintinaing or lowering our property tax rate and addressing the effects of illegal immigration.

To all of my volunteers and supporters:  Thank you so much for all you are doing.  You are all fantastic.  Getting to know each of you has been a real honor.  I cannot thank you enough.

Hope to see everyone tonight for our final push!

    Campaign Headquarters and Meeting Tonight

    March 27th, 2008

Hey everybody.  It has been one busy week.  I am getting telephone calls and e-mails everyday from people I have never met wanting yard signs.  Keep the requests coming!  We’ll get to everyone that wants one.

We decided to rent a campaign headquarters as many of you are probably aware.  It is located at 13545 Webb Chapel Road.  We open the headquarters every night from 6 - 9 p.m.  Please come up and visit us.  It is a great way to meet neighbors, see some of the exciting things happening in FB or find out how you can help in the campaign.

To all of my supporters and volunteers:  Thank you so much for all you do.  Your enthusiasm and energy is contagious.  You are all fantastic.

Only 6 weeks left until Election Day.  I believe this election will set the tone for the future of our city and whether we go forwards or backwards.

Tonight, we have a very important meeting.  Maybe the most important we will have this campaign.  6:30 at the Headquarters.  I hope to see everyone there.  Bring a friend!
